Jacob N. Donohoo was born in Bradley County, Tennessee in December 1854.  In 1880, he was reported living in Hickory Ridge, Phillips County, with wife Mollie E and daughter Nina.  His occupation was farmer. Described as a farmer, lawyer, grocer, editor, bank president, and active in real estate, he was elected to represent Phillips county in the Arkansas House of Representatives in 1877, 1887, 1889, and 1891. In 1900, he was living in Helena, Arkansas, with Mollie, Nina and three younger children, and worked as the editor of a weekly paper. In 1910, he was engaged in real estate transactions. Donohoo was a member of the M.W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Arkansas about 1902.  He died in 1917.
